Davos have seen their chances of qualifying for ice-hockey's Spengler Cup severely weakened following their defeat against Canada Selects on Friday.

The Swiss side performed well in the first half of the game, leading 2-0. However, they eventually lost the match 2-3 after the Canadian national team scored the definitive goal in the last few minutes.

The defeat pushes the Swiss side down to third position in the overall rankings, behind Canada and Germany's Kölner Haie, who both have five points.

Davos must now defeat Finland's Jokerit Helsinki in their match on Saturday, if they are to have any hope of qualifying for the final on Sunday.

In the day's other match, Germany thrashed Sparta Prag 5-1.
