Davos have taken the lead in the ice hockey play-off finals by defeating the Zurich Lions 3-0 at home.

Davos dominated the proceedings right from the start, with Björn Christen and Andreas Camenzind scoring midway through the first period.

The home side always looked likely to go further ahead and thought they had done so when Michel Riesen "scored" towards the end of the second period. However, referee Brent Reiber ruled the effort out.

But Davos's disappointment was short-lived as Reisen made it 3-0 nine seconds after the re-start.

Davos remained in the driving seat throughout the match and rarely gave the visitors a sniff of goal. The Lions' best chance of the match fell to Peter Jaks in the 11th minute, but went begging.

The second match of the best-of-seven final series is due to take place on Monday.
