Ciba's business is strengthened in coatings market. Ciba

Ciba Specialty Chemicals of Basel says it has acquired the EFKA Additives company in the Netherlands, one of the world's leading providers of additives for the coatings and inks industries.

The transaction is subject to the usual regulatory approvals and no financial details have been released.

Commenting on the move, the Ciba’s chief executive and chairman, Armin Meyer said it was part of Ciba’s ongoing strategy to focus on profitable growth and innovation.

“It will further strengthen our position as a leading supplier to the coatings industry,” he said.

“The acquisition will, with EFKA’s high value added products for the fast-growing industrial coatings market and its excellent standard of service, support our strategy to be the partner of choice for all customers in the value chain and to achieve high growth rates,” he added.

EFKA Additives produces dispersants, levelling agents and defoamers. With headquarters and production facilities in Heerenveen, the company employs 100 employees around the world and has customers in more than 80 countries.
