Federer reaches fourth round of French Open

Switzerland’s Roger Federer has gone through to the next round of the French Open after a comfortable win over Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia.

Third-seeded Federer won the 90 minute match at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris on Friday by 6-1, 6-4, 6-3.

The Swiss great had 37 winners and needed to save only one break point. He wrapped up the match when his 29th-seeded opponent sent an easy volley long.

In the next round he faces either fellow Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.

The 16-time Grand Slam champion has not dropped a set at the French Open this year.

Federer has won the tournament only once, in 2009. Last year he was knocked out in the quarterfinals.
