The 37-year-old finished only 0.6 seconds behind gold medallist Dean Bergeron from Canada.

Bösch won the bronze medal in the same discipline four years ago in Athens.

Switzerland is aiming for at least 11 medals from its 26 athletes competing in Beijing.

China is nearly certain to top the medal table, as it did in Athens when it came first with 141 medals.
