Georg Fischer wins major order from VW

The industrial concern, Georg Fischer, has won an order from the German car-maker, Volkswagen, worth more than SFr 200 million.

The industrial concern, Georg Fischer, has won an order from the German car-maker, Volkswagen, worth more than SFr 200 million.

The order covers the production and delivery of cast iron chassis components for the T5 utility vehicle. Production is scheduled for between 2002 and 2008. Volkswagen says it has based the Georg Fischer order on a planned annual output of about 205,000 T5 vehicles.

Sales at Georg Fischer's automotive products group exceeded SFr 1.2 billion in 1999. The company's other divisions are piping systems, manufacturing technology and plant engineering. Georg Fischer is due to announce its annual results for 1999 on February 22.
