“Moments” – unusual nature scenes
Swiss photographer Robert Bösch’s latest work is a departure from his usual mountain and climbing books. “Moments” is a personal retrospective of the images that have moved and gripped him over the course of his career.
Bösch often makes a point of heading out in bad weather, and he also takes photos of easy-to-reach places. His mostly black-and-white pictures are a far cry from the aesthetics of postcards. He doesn’t try to highlight the beauty of nature or its disfigurement; instead he wants to capture the moment where everything is right – the light, the mood and the time of day. His motives seem like sensual and mysterious sculptures or paintings. In the preface he writes: “We see the world, but we don’t see the images. The pictures begin with what you omit. As a photographer, I define that decisive rectangle.” “Moments” was published in 2012 by the Benteli publishing house in Zurich.
