Gagliardi knocked out of French Open

Emmanuelle Gagliardi has become the first Swiss player to be knocked out of the French Open. Luxembourg's Anne Kremer beat her in straight sets in the first round of the Paris grand slam.
The first set was a disaster for Gagliardi, who failed to win a game. The Genevan managed to put up more of a fight in the second, but she lost that set 6-4.
With 31 unforced errors and six double-faults, Gagliardi failed to repeat her strong performance of two weeks ago in Rome where she managed to reach the tournament’s third round.
Switzerland’s Marc Rosset has joined Gagliardi on the spectators’ bench, after losing his first-round match against Belgium’s Olivier Rochus in four sets.
Switzerland’s Martina Hingis is set to play Gala Leon Garcia of Spain on Tuesday.
