Heiri Känzig Qunitet: Buenos Aires
Contemporary jazz. Swiss bassist and leader Känzig cruises on this recording across the seas of jazz and tango. Buenos Aires can be considered his sounding biography for the New York born musician is of half Argentinian descent. After fruitful years on the Paris and Vienna scene - in the latter metropole he became a member of the legendary Vienna Art Orchestra - he returned back to Switzerland about a decade ago. This album and band comprises young talented Swiss musicians - notably bandoneonist Michael Zismann - along with flugelhorn heavyweight Mathieu Michel. Last but not least Känzig's fat bass tone can sing joyfully on top of the band. With Heiri Känzig (bass); Mathieu Michel (flugelhorn); Urs Bollhalder (piano); Michael Zismann (bandoneon); Lionel Friedli (drums).
