Quetzal: 5:45 h

swissinfo.ch

Jazz / Imaginary Folklore / Avant-Garde. Quetzal is the name of a colourful, dwindling bird native to Central America and the eponym of a quintet around drummer Lukas Mantel from Biel-Bienne. Its members represent the young Swiss jazz scene at its best, for Quetzal absorbs with ease many diverse styles ranging from pop and jazz to avant-garde ornaments. The quicksilver chantings of Veronika Stalder and Nina Gutknecht in particular give this distinct music a certain mystical aura. 5:45 h evokes a sonic forest with filigree flowers in full bloom.
