Schneeweiss und Rosenrot: Pretty Frank
Vocal / Jazz / Avantgarde-Pop. Singer Lucia Cadotsch from Zurich is an expatriate living in Berlin. When she met pianist Johanna Borchert there a few years back, it immediately clicked between these two exploring artists. Thus they started out as a duo under the name Schneeweiss und Rosenrot, derived from the eponymous Grimm fairytale Snow White and Rose Red. And verily, the childlike rhymes sung in a bell-like voice above repetitive piano figures, layered by electronic sounds, spread a magic aura. Meanwhile Schneeweiss und Rosenrot have been augmented by a jazzy rhythm section. Their second album Pretty Frank continues with an infatuating web of diverse styles.
