Outside the laws of life

This content was published on March 17, 2008 minutes

Even more than being the king of sports, football is the king of games. All the great games involve a ball, whether it is tennis or billiards. In life the ball is what is outside the laws of life ... Football owes its universality to how it has been able to maximise the effect of the ball. As well as its main principle, that of development and independence, a team provides the ball with an engine of 11 mischief-makers and 11 imaginations.

Philippe Villemus, La Gloire du football (The Glory of Football) (Ed. Eyrolles 2006)
