Prominent Zurich financier killed in plane crash
The prominent Zurich financier, Ernst Müller-Möhl, has been killed in a plane crash. The 42-year-old founder of the A&A Actienbank was piloting a light aircraft above the Gotthard Pass, when the crash happened, on Wednesday.
Müller-Möhl had just taken off from the Speck-Fehraltdorf airfield in canton Zurich and was heading towards Ticino, when the plane went down. He was travelling alone. It is not known what caused the crash.
Müller-Möhl made a name for himself as an investor and large shareholder in many Swiss companies. He founded the Bank am Bellevue, and co-founded the BZ bank together with fellow prominent financier, Martin Ebner.
He was the largest shareholder in companies, ranging from the telecommunications firm, Ascom, to Arbonia Forster, PBS Privat Bank Schweiz, and the commuter newspaper, 20 Minuten.
Müller-Möhl was also on the board of numerous other companies, such as Medica Holding, Siber Hegner, CWL Holding and Klinik Breitlen.
Müller-Möhl was married with a son.
