Two dead in Aargau road accident
An 18-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man died in a road accident in canton Aargau, with five others injured, police have said.
According to cantonal authorities, a post bus carrying regional passengers collided with a car and a truck early Tuesday morning. Roland Pfister of the cantonal police says those who died were passengers in the post bus.
The accident happened between the towns of Endingen and Lengnau in northern Switzerland, about 35 kilometres northwest of Zurich. A truck coming from the direction of Lengnau hit the side of the oncoming city bus and a car behind the bus hit it from behind. The passengers in the car, a 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, had to be removed from the car by firefighters and were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
The truck driver, a 22-year-old Swiss, suffered minor injuries.
The Aargau public prosecutor has opened an investigation into the cause of the crash, which remains unknown.
Police, ambulance and fire personnel responded to the scene along with a helicopter. The road remained closed for several hours and traffic along the busy thoroughfare between Zurich and northern Switzerland was re-routed.
