After riding over 168 kilometres from Pfaffnau, Camenzind had to settle for second place, bringing him up to eighth in the overall standings. Aebersold finished Wednesday's stage in third place.

The prestigious race through west Switzerland also has a new overall leader. Australia's Bradley McGee gained two seconds during a sprint section on Wednesday to move ahead of former leader and defending champion Paolo Savoldelli.

On Thursday the Tour leaves canton Bern for a ride of more than 170 kilometres to Vevey in canton Vaud.
