The unique luminosity of his paintings made Giovanni Segantini (1858-1899) a major innovator in landscape painting and a pioneer of modernism. The exhibition combines paintings and drawings from his early phase in northern Italy, images of Savoyan peasant life and his works from the Swiss mountain realm of Engadin.
