Emmanuel Pahud was born in Geneva in 1970 and graduated in 1990 with the Premier Prix from the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris. At the age of 22 he was appointed Principal Flute of the Berlin Philharmonic. Emmanuel Pahud and Mariko Anraku (harpist with the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra) have known each other for many years and had been thinking of making a duet album together. For this recording they carefully selected a programme best suited to their musical sensibilities.
