Britain comes up roses at TV festival
A multinational collection of productions has won awards at the 48th Rose d'Or (Golden Rose), Europe's oldest television festival, with Britain scooping most prizes.
A live combination broadcast from the Zurich Opera House of Mozart’s The Magic Flute won the prize in the field of performing arts.
Swiss television had aired the production on its main channel and a behind the scenes look on another.
The Netherlands claimed the prize for top reality show. Britain netted awards for top arts documentary, best drama and best game show.
The BBC series, Combat Opera Presents, was judged the best comedy and also won the festival’s Special Prize. The top television entertainer was Peter Serafinowicz – also a Briton.
Ben Silverman, co-chairman of the United States-based NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, won an honorary award.
The festival, held in the central city of Lucerne, ended on Tuesday.
