Fazil Say: 1001 Nights In The Harem

Fazil Say: 1001 Nights In The Harem swissmusic

Classical music of our times. Turkish pianist Fazil Say once more surprises with brand new original compositions blending orient and occident with ease. Cornerstone of this recording is the violin concerto "1001 nights in the harem", which was commisioned by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra under John Axelrod. You hear the world premiere performance which took place on 20 february 2008 at the KKL Lucerne. Solo violinist is the fulminant Berne based Patricia Kopatchinskaja with whom Say also works successfully together as a duo. You hear the concerto's 2nd movement, which mirrors an all-night party at the harem fired up by wild dance music.
