Are we approaching humanitarian aid the wrong way?

Hosted by: Imogen Foulkes

The newest episode of our “Inside Geneva” podcast discusses how humanitarian aid will look in 2021 amid a continuing global crisis: What does the UN’s record $35 billion appeal for humanitarian funding tell us about the global order? Should we use the upheaval of the pandemic to create something different?

Switzerland is a very generous country. But I will ask to take more care about its poorest people than to try to fix the world

Capitalism needs a complete re-think. A system that allows sportspeople, TV / movie stars, top bosses to earn much more than essential workers is wrong. As is a tax system that allows big businesses & the mega rich to avoid paying what they should. There is enough money in the world to help everyone. But, charity should begin at home, before helping other countries. Let them develop at their own pace. If there is no homelessness, or people surviving on handouts in your own country, then think about helping others.

As a doctor I worked in about 1 in 3 African countries. Build them free water and sewage systems. That will save sooooo many lives. Generic aid going to corupt politicians will never help anyone.

When will those of us affected by the virus restrictions receive the humanitarian compensation?

We never chose to lose jobs and income any more than people in Syria chose to be bombed. We want our compensation or we'll have to take all politicians to international courts, or in my case an Israeli court first.

Agreed, they spend so much outside but here we have homeless and now only now they decided to count them, I imagine their number risen this year but we can't be sure as we never checked before. How can Switzerland help all around the world and being so blind at home. So many working people lost job with no option to ask for help because of the laws. Food was given out yeah, but it was done soo poorly family standing all day outside for food, such a poor organisation, so disrespectful.

They also closed my 5 businesses, just like the germans did in ww2.

More wealth confiscation. A holocaust.
