Streller out of World Cup

Streller will not play in South Africa Keystone

Swiss footballer Marco Streller will not play in the 2010 World Cup after breaking down in training with a thigh muscle injury.

The Swiss Football Association said team doctors confirmed late on Wednesday that the 28-year-old would not recover to go to his second World Cup finals.

Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has decided to replace the FC Basel forward with Albert Bunjaku.

Bunjaku, who plays for German club Nuremberg, would be the third player of Kosovo descent in the squad.

Aged 26, Bunjaku scored 12 goals for his team in the past season.

The 2010 World Cup starts in South Africa on June 11.
