Middle eastern films dominate at Fribourg festival
An Israeli film has taken top honours at Fribourg’s International Film Festival, with the jury awarding the main prize to director Ido Fluk’s "It’s never too late".

The road movie is his first full-length feature and it carried off the Regard d’Or trophy along with SFr30,000 in prize money. It was presented for the first time to an international audience.
Egypt’s Amr Salama was awarded the audience prize for his film “Asmaa”, the story of a girl suffering from Aids, while Jordanian director Yahya Al-Abdallah received the jury’s special prize for “The last Friday”, a movie about a man who has to undergo an operation he cannot afford.
The Talent Tape Award worth SFr19,000 went to the producers of “Historias que so existem quando lembradas” (Found Memories), a French, Brazilian and Argentinian co-production directed by Julia Murat. It was also honoured by the International Federation of Film Societies, the youth jury and the ecumenical jury.
Around 30,000 people attended the 26th edition of the festival, which was held over the past week.
