New team takes the helm at New York’s Swiss Institute

New York's Swiss Institute is to have a new management team from the beginning of September. The institute, founded in 1986, is the foremost centre for Swiss arts and culture in the United States.

The art historian Mary Rozell will head the institute. Rozell’s career has already taken her to Germany, where, amongst other roles, she was head of the International Studio Programme in European Art in Weimar.

Her deputy, and incoming head of art at the institute, will be Marc-Olivier Wahler, who is currently in charge of the Neuchatel arts centre. He also ran the TRANSFERT sculpture festival, an exhibition bringing together 40 artists from around the world.

The Swiss Institute boasts the United States’ best library of Swiss literature. The collection’s roots go back to the nineteenth century, when Swiss immigrants donated their books to form a library in New York.
