Paléo figures are music to organisers’ ears
Almost 230,000 people have attended Switzerland’s biggest open-air music festival.
Headliners at the Paléo Festival 2010 included veteran punk rockers Iggy and the Stooges, Motörhead, 1970s folk rock supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash and 1980s jazz funk band Jamiroquai, as well as Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini and French crossover artist M.
The festival in Nyon, canton Vaud, ran over six days and nights and hosted more than 170 concerts and shows on six stages.
No major incidents were reported, although not everyone stuck to the smoking ban in covered areas – in place for the first time. The camp site welcomed 10,000 people, a slight increase on last year.
The festival, now in its 35th year, attracts a mainly Swiss audience, with 12 per cent of festival-goers coming from abroad. Organisers say the event is 100 per cent run by green energy.
Next year’s festival will take place from July 19-24. The programme is set to be announced on April 5 and tickets will be available from April 13.
