Phil Collins’s Swiss wife awarded record sum

Phil Collins has paid his third wife – a Swiss woman, Orianne Cevey – SFr51 million ($46 million), thought to be the largest divorce settlement involving a British celebrity.

The payout tops by around SFr3 million what Paul McCartney handed his former wife Heather Mills.

Collins and Cevey separated in 2006 after six years of marriage.

The 57-year-old singer met 35-year-old Cevey at the Paléo open-air music festival in the Swiss town of Nyon in 1994. She served officially as his interpreter.

The couple and their two children lived in a villa above Lake Geneva.

In 1996 Collins settled the divorce with his second wife for SFr35 million. It is not known how much the 1980 divorce from his first wife cost him.

According to British media reports, Collins has a fortune estimated at SFr287 million.
