Franz Schubert: Sonata Arpeggione for clarinet (originally for guitarre d'amour) and piano D821. Johannes Brahms: Sonata for clarinet (originally for violin) and piano op.78. Sergej Prokofiev: Sonata for clarinet (originally for flute) and piano op. 94. "It was really my love of Benny Goodman that made me a clarinetist", Fabio Di Càsola admits in interview. At the same time, Beethoven engendered his interest in Classical and Swiss composer Heinz Holliger in Modern music. In 1990 he was awarded first prize at the international competition CIEM in Geneva. In 1998 he was voted "Swiss musician of the year". Fabio Di Càsola is principal clarinet in the Musikkollegium Winterthur. He also holds a professorship for clarinet and chamber music at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. The Ukrainian born pianist Alena Cherny lives in Switzerland, where in addition to her soloist's career she focuses on chamber music.
