The Symphony Orchestra of Basle is one of Switzerland's most prestigious orchestras. It was founded when two of Switzerland's leading ensembles, the Basle Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Basle Symphony Orchestra, merged at the beginning of the 1997/1998 concert season.
