Switzerland reach deepest depths at Eurovision

Switzerland will not take part in the Eurovision Song Contest final in Moscow this Saturday, after Basel band the Lovebugs were eliminated in Tuesday's semifinal.

Their song, The Highest Heights, failed to win enough votes for the Swiss entry to join the ten countries going forward to the final.

A second semifinal is held on Thursday night.

Switzerland, which was not among the bookmakers' favourites, has had a disastrous record at Eurovision for the past few years, failing to qualify for the final for several years in a row.

Switzerland last won the televised competition in 1988, when it was represented by Canadian Céline Dion.
