Tragedy propels Gotthard into charts

The death of Steve Lee, the lead singer of the rock group Gotthard, has propelled the group’s records back into the charts.

Gotthard has a total of 13 discs in the Swiss hit parade for the week to October 24. It heads the singles list with Heaven, while One Life, One Soul is in fourth place.

In the album charts, Need to Believe is at number two, followed by One Team, One Spirit, and Made in Switzerland at five. All the studio albums ever released by Gotthard figure in the current hit parade.

Gotthard is one of the most successful Swiss bands of all time.

Lee, who was 47, died in a freak road accident in the United States on October 5. He was on a motorcycle tour with friends when a tractor trailer lost control on a wet motorway and slammed into a group of parked motorbikes, one of which hit Lee.

About 3,000 fans from different countries gathered on the St Gotthard pass on Sunday to pay him tribute.
