A language and reference atlas focussing on Italy and Italian-speaking Swiss regions was produced between 1928 and 1940 under the leadership of Karl Jaberg and Jakob Jud. Paul Scheuermeier (1888-1973) of Zurich undertook much of the research for the atlas. He took thousands of photographs during his travels through Switzerland, north and central Italy. A recent publication, “Parole in immagine” (Words in pictures) illustrates his work in Italian-speaking Switzerland.
