In autumn of 2011, four Swiss heritage institutions decided to try and acquire all or some of the 11 albums of photographs by Lausanne’s Constant-Delessert (1806-1876) which were put up for auction by Sotheby’s in Paris. Adrien Constant de Rebecque, born into an old artistocratic family, was one of the first to begin making photographic images around the beginning of the 1840s.
