Credit Suisse Prosecutor Keneally Joining DLA Piper in New York

Sept. 18 (Bloomberg) — Kathryn Keneally, the former U.S. tax prosecutor who helped negotiate the guilty plea in May of Credit Suisse AG for helping Americans evade taxes, is joining DLA Piper as a partner in New York, according to the law firm.

Keneally served as assistant attorney general in the Justice Department’s tax division from 2012 until leaving in early June. She helped oversee the guilty plea by Credit Suisse’s main bank subsidiary and the imposition of $2.6 billion in penalties, which included the highest payment ever in a criminal tax case. She also designed a program in which about 100 Swiss banks seek non-prosecution agreements for disclosing how they helped Americans evade taxes.
