UBS Hires Credit Suisse’s Bouvier as Head of Industrials Group

Nov. 12 (Bloomberg) — UBS AG hired Laurent Bouvier from Swiss competitor Credit Suisse Group AG to head its global industrials group.

Bouvier will also be head of UBS’s sector groups for Europe, the Middle East and Asia, excluding financial institutions, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg News. The contents of the memo were confirmed by a UBS spokeswoman.

Bouvier, who has advised clients from Alstom SA to Panasonic Corp. during his 16 years at Credit Suisse, was most recently co-head of global diversified industrials and large caps at the bank. At UBS he will report to William Vereker, Ros Stephenson and Matt Hanning, heads of corporate client solutions in EMEA, the U.S. and Asia Pacific respectively.

Mark Lewisohn, who has worked at UBS for 25 years, has also been named chairman of EMEA sector groups excluding financial institutions, according to a separate memo.

Under investment bank chief executive officer Andrea Orcel, UBS is making targeted additions to its ranks that have included JPMorgan Chase & Co. banker Severin Brizay and Deutsche Bank’s Michael Hafner.

The Swiss lender said in another memo that James Hartop, one of the UBS bankers who advised AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. on its scrapped $2.1 billion share sale, is leaving the bank.

Hartop led the bank’s coverage and advisory practice for its corporate-client solutions business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for three years before moving to a client-facing role in May this year.
