
Swine flu count continues to rise
Switzerland has recorded another 21 cases of the A/H1N1 virus since Friday, bringing the total number of cases confirmed in laboratories to 241.
The Federal Health Office said on Monday that 42 people had become infected with the virus, known as swine flu, within Switzerland.
Schools in canton Valais have recorded 18 cases. Confirmed cases were also recorded in two summer camps in cantons Bern and Vaud.
Overall, the cantons of Geneva, Valais and Bern have been the hardest hit.
Swiss authorities increased inspections of people crossing the borders at the beginning of July.
The World Health Organization has warned that the A/H1N1 flu pandemic could affect as much as one quarter of the workforce by the end of the year.
Health officials are expecting a sharp increase in infections after the summer holidays.
