Switzerland’s Nef wins giant slalom in United States
The Swiss skier, Sonja Nef, has won Thursday's World Cup giant slalom race at Park City Mountain Resort, Utah. Nef rushed down the 2002 Olympic run to win the event with a time of two minutes and 40 seconds.
Nef came fourth in the first of the two-stage event. However, her second time was enough to give her the first-class podium finish.
Brigitte Obermoser from Austria came second in the final placings, despite winning the first leg, while Sweden’s Anja Pärson came third. The defending World Cup giant slalom champion, Michaela Dorfmeister of Austria, came fourth.
Other Swiss skiers performed less well. Corinne Rey-Bellet came 19th, Nadia Styger came 25th, Karin Roten Meier came 27th and Lilian Kummer came 28th.
