Anti-Gaddafi protests take place in Geneva
Around 200 people gathered in Geneva's Place des Nations on Saturday to demonstrate against Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi and other Arab world leaders.
The protestors, chiefly Libyans living in Switzerland and sympathisers, called for Gaddafi to go, according to the Swiss News Agency.
“We fear there’ll be a real massacre over there,” said Hassan Al Djahmi, a political refugee in Switzerland for ten years and the organiser of the protest outside the United Nations’ Geneva headquarters. He also denounced western states “who by selling arms to the regime also have blood on their hands”.
Others said they wanted to show their solidarity with the Libyan people.
The number of people killed in several days of protests in Libya had risen to around 200, according to various sources quoted on Sunday. The main focus of the demonstrations has been the second city Benghazi, where protesters and security forces are reported to have clashed.
