Belgian production scoops Montreux Golden Rose award

The Belgian production, "The Mole", has scooped the 40th Golden Rose of Montreux prize for television entertainment. It was the first time in the event's history, that a production originating from Belgium took the honour.

Vlaamse Radio en Televisieomroep produced "The Mole", an adventure game. Ten players must confront various challenges during their voyage and discover in the process which of their group member is a saboteur.

The Silver Roses went to the British comedy production "People like us" and the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat." The United States' "EGG the art show 101" and the Italian "Francamente...mene infischio" also received the prize.

The Press prize was awarded to a Dutch production, the sitcom, "All stars". The only Swiss contribution, also a sitcom, "Les Pique-Meurons", failed to land any prize.

The European Broadcasting Union received the Rose of Honour award.
