Federer to Play Djokovic in Wimbledon Final in Bid for 8th Title

July 4 (Bloomberg) — Roger Federer advanced to the Wimbledon final against top seed Novak Djokovic, continuing his hunt for a record eighth title at the All England Club.

Federer defeated Milos Raonic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Raonic, the eighth seed, was trying to become the first Canadian man in a Grand Slam tennis final after countrywoman Eugenie Bouchard reached the championship match yesterday. She’ll play 2011 winner Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic tomorrow.

Federer has had an almost flawless path to the final, dropping a set only to his Swiss Davis Cup teammate Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinal. Federer, a 32-year-old father of four, has lost only once in a Wimbledon final, to No. 1 Rafael Nadal in 2008.
