Internet’s birthday World wide web turns 25

A world without the world wide web is unthinkable. But the internet only came into existence 25 years ago.(SRF/swissinfo.ch)

It was the brainchild of Tim Berners-Lee,who was 32 at the time and worked for CERN, the European particle physics laboratory in Geneva. His idea was to create a platform which would allow the hundreds of CERN employees to exchange large amounts of technical data and theory papers. Berners-Lee called it the “world wide web”. It revolutionised the globe.
