Le Corse: Le Rex
This young quintet around tenor saxofonist Marc Stucki is based in Berne. They are a sub-group of the musician's self-help organization Jazzwerkstatt. Le Rex is their sounding diary from a trip to the Mediterranean island Corsica. All tracks were recorded live down on the streets. So not surprisingly their music operates with earthy grooves, delivered by tuba and drums, and anthem-like lines by the three-piece blowing section at the front.
