Chair

Claude Frey

Renate Hotz
Vice-Chair, political scientist, public affairs advisor, Stettlen

As an experienced political journalist, I continue to have a particular interest in what is going on in the media, and how political issues can be presented attractively to a broad audience.

Members

Dominique Baccaunaud-Vuillemin
Swiss Expatriate and member of the Council of the Swiss Abroad, Professor, Sainte Colombe en Bruilhois, France.

Tatiana Crivelli
Professor of Italian Literature, University of Zurich.

Why do I serve on swissinfo’s Public Council? Because my belief in the power of symbolic representation is even stronger than my belief in the power of information. And what better representative could we have than swissinfo? In a variety of forms and languages, this voice of Switzerland has been reaching out to the world since the 1930s. It represents values – multilingualism and the coexistence of different cultures – that are very important to me.

Johannes Eichrodt
Head of the Middle Schools Department within the Canton Zurich Directorate of Education, former director of the Swiss School in Bangkok, Uhwiesen.

swissinfo.ch provides a reliable source of information for Swiss expatriates all over the globe. Its professional multimedia offering combines the highest journalistic standards with a selection of relevant issues. And it is all offered in nine world languages for a broad audience with an interest in Switzerland.

Jean-Marc Felix
Member of the Executive Board of the Swiss Bankers Association, Head of Corporate Communications for the association’s global public relations.

I am a member of the Public Council because swissinfo.ch is heard as an important voice internationally. As a small country, we must use every opportunity to put our position. swissinfo.ch is a vital channel for this.

Jan Mühlethaler

Head of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs

Osec

Marlies Prinzing
Professor of Journalism in Cologne; journalist; lecturer in journalism in Switzerland.

I am involved in the swissinfo.ch Public Council because the Council’s discussions help to maintain and improve the high journalistic quality of the multimedia platform, and because I am a firm believer in the long-term potential of public service broadcasting.

Chaspar Pult
Intellectual, linguist, long-serving President of the Lia Rumantsch (the umbrella organisation of all Romansch language and arts associations), Paspels.

swissinfo.ch is Switzerland’s multimedia gateway to the world. It uses new and future communications technologies and, with its nine languages, reaches a large share of the global audience.

Reinhard Süess
Member of the Council of the Swiss Abroad, Chairman of the Swiss Club in Kassel, Architect, employed at Hessische Baumanagement

swissinfo.ch is the only medium that gives Switzerland global in our national languages and in the major world languages. There is also a special service for the 700,000 or so Swiss people living abroad, some 76,000 of whom are in Germany.
As a member of both the Council of Swiss Expatriates and the Public Council, I am committed to widening the use of swissinfo.ch among Swiss expatriates everywhere.

Walter Suter
Former Swiss Ambassador
swissinfo.ch ombudsman

swissinfo.ch is the only public-sector medium in Switzerland that is geared specifically to an international audience. It plays a unique role, objectively offering a realistic picture of Switzerland to the rest of the world. Since I attach great value to this outstanding work in the interests of our country I am delighted that, alongside the other members of the swissinfo.ch Public Council, I am able to support and work alongside swissinfo in a spirit of constructive criticism.
