UBS Names Shane Edwards Head of Global Equity Derivatives
Dec. 2 (Bloomberg) — UBS Group AG named Shane Edwards head of global equity derivatives, replacing Roger Naylor, who will become co-head of global equities at the start of the year.
Edwards is currently global head of equities structuring and has been with Switzerland’s biggest bank since August 2012, according to a memo from Naylor and Robert Karofsky, who will lead the bank’s equities business. The memo’s contents were confirmed by a UBS spokeswoman.
“Shane has transformed the global structuring team into a highly efficient, world-class organization,” Naylor and Karofsky said in the memo. Edwards will assume his new role at the same time as the new co-heads of the equities business.
Andrea Orcel, who runs UBS’s investment bank, has said he wants the firm to return to a top-three ranking in equities, including leading positions in cash equities and derivatives. The company was ranked fifth in the first half, according to Coalition Ltd., a London-based financial analysis firm.
Before joining UBS, Edwards was global head of equities structuring at Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc. He also worked for Deutsche Bank AG and Macquarie Group Ltd., according to the memo.
