Top album sellers in Switzerland

Nearly 200 albums sold on the Swiss record market in 2001 won gold or Platinum discs, according to figures just released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
The rock band Gotthard and the Swiss-German singer Gölä came top of the chart for Swiss artistes, each selling 120,000 copies of their respective albums “III” and “Homerun”. But the biggest-seller overall was the album “Stilelibero” by the Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti, which earned a “quadruple platinum” award with sales reaching 160,000.
In Switzerland, the status of gold disc is awarded for 20,000 albums sold, and the platinum disc for 40,000.
A total of 187 gold or platinum discs were received by the makers of 154 albums sold in Swiss music stores.
