Child killed after Ukrainian attack on Russia’s Krasnodar region, governor says

MOSCOW (Reuters) – A six-year-old girl died in hospital after a Ukrainian drone attack on the town of Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, the regional governor, said on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, he said six people had been hospitalised after the attack.

Another official said that nearly 30,000 residents in Primorsko-Akhtarsk were without power on Friday morning after a drone damaged an electrical substation.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said in a statement it had downed 14 drones overnight over the Krasnodar region, and more than three dozen more over the Rostov region and the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia region in Ukraine.

Separately, a resident of Russia’s western Kursk region was injured after Ukrainian drones caused damage at several petrol stations near the town of Sudzha, the acting regional governor said on the Telegram app.

The last operational trans-shipping point for Russian gas exports to Europe, Sudzha was damaged by Ukrainian shelling in June.
