Budding Swiss filmmakers learn the ropes

Switzerland’s film output lags behind that of other European countries because it depends on state subsidies, which are very low. The Swiss government allocated just under SFr27 million ($27.3 million) for cinema projects in 2012.

It’s little incentive for young people to opt for a career in cinema. But Studio41, a film studio and training facility in western Switzerland, still wants to encourage would-be filmmakers to give it a go. Their week-long summer camps near Estavayer-le-lac teach children about every aspect of the filmmaking process, as swissinfo.ch found out. (Julie Hunt, swissinfo.ch)
