Big top becomes heaven on earth

Part of the magical set of the Heaven and Earth production. Heaven and Earth

A group of international actors, dancers and clowns have turned a Zurich circus tent into a "Heaven on Earth".

The show is a tragic tale of a young couple torn apart by death. The story takes place on a split-level stage, with the lower half representing earth and the upper heaven.

The couple are separated when the woman dies in an accident. Her lover, with the help of a guardian angel, uses every artistic trick and turn imaginable to bring her back to earth.

Co-director of the show is Rolf Knie of Circus Knie, the Swiss National Circus. Knie is one of Switzerland’s most popular contemporary painters, mostly known for a series of colourful paintings on circus themes.

Heaven on Earth runs until December 31 at the Radrennbahn in Zurich-Oerlikon.
