Controversial mountain deck given go-ahead
The authorities have given the green light for the construction of an observation deck in a mountain face in the Swiss Alps.
The Bern cantonal government on Thursday said it had approved amended plans for a balcony near the top of the Stockhorn mountain in the Bernese Oberland.
The initial project launched two years ago for a glass observation platform, nicknamed the “nose ring”, ran into opposition from environmental groups.
The revised project by the local cable car company foresees a balcony of three metres squared to be built next year.
