Elderly feel increasingly threatened
People in Switzerland, particularly elderly couples and above-average income earners feel increasingly threatened by crime, according to a survey.
About 90 per cent of respondents said various forms of crime posed a greater threat for them than ten years ago.
However, figures do not back up the perceived higher crime rate. The number of crime victims remained unchanged over the past two decades, the survey found.
The survey by the Link research institute was conducted among more than 1,400 people. It was published in the newspaper Sonntag.
In March the federal authorities published new crime statistics showing a trend towards more attacks against police officers as well as violent and threatening behavior in general.
