Paying Tunisian asylum seekers to go home
The Arab Spring brought Tunisians to Switzerland seeking better economic prospects. Such asylum requests are usually rejected but some Tunisians still stay on as returning home is seen as a failure. A pilot project aims to reverse this.
This summer Switzerland started a pilot project offering repatriation money to Tunisian asylum seekers who agree to return to their country voluntarily. The one year test phase is limited to 250 people. (SF/swissinfo.ch)
