Schnyder reaches final

Switzerland's Patty Schnyder has reached the final of the Thailand Open WTA tennis tournament after defeating Rossana de los Rios of Paraguay.
Switzerland’s number seven beat de los Rios 7-5, 0-6, 6-2 in the semi-finals at the $110,000 event in Pattaya.
Schnyder showed a cool nerve in her match against the Paraguayan world number 60, who is a former world number eight.
After winning the first set, Schnyder was trounced in the second set. However, she managed to regain her composure in the last set, while her opponent started producing unforced errors.
This is only the second time this season that Schnyder has made it through to the finals of a WTA event.
The last time she reached a final was in Vienna, when she lost against Uzbekistan’s Iroda Tuljaganowa in straight sets.
Her last victory was in 1999, when she beat seventh seed Mary Pierce of France during the Gold Coast tennis tournament in Australia.
Schnyder will face Henrieta Nagyova of Slovakia in the finals. The Swiss player, who is only one day older than her opponent, previously lost three times against the Slovakian.
